Secaucus Middle School

“The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living differ from the dead.”
---Aristotle

Here at Secaucus Middle School, we believe that our students must gain personal, academic, and social/emotional advancements every day.  Without daily growth, we are failing our students in their preparation for high school and beyond.  This responsibility falls upon all of our shoulders!  As a school and community, we must share in the practice of raising our children to respect their own character and reputations.

One word comes to mind when I think about the relationships we share at Secaucus Middle School – ‘TOLERANCE.’  We must be tolerant of the diversity that is spread across our community.  It is vital that our children grow up respecting the differences of others and realizing the benefits of bringing different perspectives to the table.  Bullying and teasing in any form will not be accepted amongst our faculty and staff, and we will educate our children about society’s moral obligation to help rather than to hurt.  Bystanders are the most important tool against bullying and intimidation; peers hold the power to stop bullying in its tracks and to make the aggressor(s) feel isolated and powerless.  This is the initiative set forth by our school district and it will stand as a primary focus of our school year.

Preparing our students for 21st Century challenges is our mission.  At Secaucus Middle School, we are engaging our students on a daily basis with problem solving strategies and technological resources that will set them apart from the competition when they reach the next level.  I am extremely proud of our faculty and the commitment they have made towards student achievement.  We are diligently working to revise all of our curricula to better align with current New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and the newly developed National Common Core Standards.  Our students will become global thinkers who will use the power of democracy to make a difference in the surrounding community.

I am sure my reassignment as the Acting Interim Principal of Secaucus Middle School will prove to be very rewarding. I take great pride in our school system and feel very fortunate to have been a teacher for 20 years, as well as being given the opportunity to serve as an administrator for the past several years in the Secaucus school system. I attended Huber Street School, Lincoln Junior High and the brand new Secaucus High School as a freshman. My sons are also a product of the Secaucus school system, attending Huber St. as well as the Secaucus Middle and High Schools. I see this as an opportunity to give something back to a district that has given so much.  I will always make decisions that are in the best interest of the children, and do my best to guide them down a path of discovery and inquisitiveness. I truly believe that with your support and encouragement, we can work together to develop responsible young adults, some that may very well become future leaders. Our goal is to provide the students with a thorough and efficient education combined with the importance of respect, hard work, and dedication.  Together, we can create the ideal learning environment for our students to grow and prosper.  I look forward to the remaining months of the 2012-2013 school year with extreme passion and excitement.

Yours Truly,

Linda Diemer
Acting Interim Principal
Secaucus Middle School
